Department of Interface Modelling
How well a metal component holds up and functions over the course of time is largely determined by those highly complex mechanisms that take place on the surface. To develop effective protection strategies quickly and effectively, it is necessary to simulate these mechanisms realistically and at the same time efficiently using computers. The “Interface Modelling” department develops digital forecasting models from those simulations for the transportation and infrastructure sectors as well as for medical and energy technologies.
We use innovative artificial intelligence methods, among others, and closely cooperate with experimental scientists as well as with the industrial sector. This creates synergistic effects that lead to the sustainable development of future-oriented protection, functionalization and maintenance concepts, thereby ushering in a new era of surface technology.
