Tamadur Adnan Albaraghtheh is a CFD scientist from Jordan. She is involved in the research project "Uncertainty Quantification", where she investigates the sources of uncertainties within the degradation models and quantify them to enhance the reliability of the model. Tamadur works at the outstation of the Hereon on the DESY campus in Hamburg.

The microstructure of a material represents a variety of properties and components. These include grain boundaries, defects and phase regions. For a precise understanding of the corrosion of a metal, knowledge of the influence of the microstructure is essential. Precipitates are known to be a significant influencing factor, as they affect chemical and structural parameters. In this context, my thesis aims to investigate the influence of silver precipitates on the corrosion rate of a Mg-Ag alloy. I am investigating the respective corrosion rate in relation to the respective size of the precipitate phase in order to be able to investigate a possible correlation between both properties.

Birte Hindenlang is a material scientist and works as a Ph.D. student at the Hereon outstation at DESY. Here, she investigates the degradation behavior of Mg-Implants under load. During her master thesis she investigated the evaporation behavior of water from t-ZnO networks.

André has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering. Since 2023, he has been working as a researcher software developer on the Helmholtz Imaging's project SmartPhase. This project aims to provide a fast and simple way for scientists to analyze data from near-field holo-nanotomography experiments through a user-friendly framework.

Domenik Priebe is a Master's student at the CAU in Kiel and is writing his Master's thesis in mathematics at Hereon. His task is to model the process of bone mineralization using ordinary differential equations.

Jan Reimers is a materials scientist and works as a PhD student at the Hereon outstation at DESY and the Ernst Ruska-Centre in Jülich on the joint project "Model and Data Driven Material Characterization" (MDMC). Using correlation of computed tomography and electron microscopy, he is investigating the degradation behaviour of magnesium alloys under physiological conditions at the nanoscale.

Sven Schimek, holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, currently works as a PhD student at the Hereon outstation located at DESY. In collaboration with the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), he is investigating the use of magnesium alloys for resorbable bone implants. His work primarily focuses on in situ nanoindentation utilizing nano X-ray diffraction, and performing correlative analyses of comprehensive datasets.

Florian Wieland works at the Hereon outstation on the DESY campus in Hamburg. His research interests are: biomineralisation, surfaces & interfaces (adsorption process, Langmuir layers, growth phenomena), nanoparticles, metal organic frameworks, research on proteins & polymers under shear and pressure conditions, x-ray reflectivity, grazing incidence diffraction & grazing incidence small angle scattering.

Tak Ming Wong works at the Hereon outstation at DESY in Hamburg as a computer scientist. Since July 2023, he contributes to the KI4D4E project. His main research interests include non-convex optimization, deep learning, computer vision, and supervised/unsupervised machine learning with applications in image processing and analysis.
