The network “CDR (Carbon Dioxide Removal) Expertise Mapping” facilitates research. For the first time, stakeholders can explore more than 50 projects in the Helmholtz Association in the field of CO2 removal from the atmosphere according to their areas of interest and needs. With the help of filters, keywords and free text searches, they have easy access to the latest scientific information, which helps researchers as well as decision-makers from business and politics.

The CDR Expertise Mapping aims to promote dialog between science and application via its user-friendly interface and thus contribute to potential collaborations. The tool was developed as part of the SynCom project “Scaling Up Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR)”, coordinated by Dr Katharina Sielemann (Helmholtz SynCom) and Dr Rodrigo Valencia from the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS), an institution of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon. It connects the CDR projects from the seven research institutes of the Helmholtz Research Field Earth and Environment via the visual network.
