Dr Maria Serdechnova from the Institute of Surface Science at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon is delighted to receive the EU-40 Materials Prize from the European Materials Research Society (EMRS). Prize winners are usually young researchers whose work has a major impact in their field. The prize is reserved for researchers who have the potential to play a leading role in materials science and have implemented their research in Europe.

The award consisted of a cash prize of 5,000 euros, a certificate, a waiver of the conference fee and a plenary lecture at the Spring Meeting 2024 of the European Materials Research Society in Strasbourg at the end of May, where the award was presented.

"This award means a lot to me. On the one hand, the award is recognition of my scientific work to date. Important for me is the fact that no one I know was in the selection committee, so I was awarded solely on the basis of the facts and results of my research in the field of 'intelligent' conversion layers. On the other hand, I had the opportunity to meet new people and extend my network, which gives me new motivation and support,” says Maria Serdechnova herself. We congratulate her on this success!
