Benjamin Klusemann heads the department "Solid State Joining Processes" within the Institute of Materials Research. The scientist is also professor for "Local Engineering, in particular Process Simulation" at the Institute of Product and Process Innovation of the Leuphana University of Lüneburg.
The European Scientific Association for Material Forming (ESAFORM) awards the ESAFORM Scientific Prize since 1999 to recognize young scientists who have brought an outstanding contribution in the field of material forming. Excellence is evaluated based on several criteria: quality of scientific work; international networking; leadership of a research team; research not only focused on a single topic; and the balance between academic and research activities. Prof. Klusemann convinced the jury in all areas. The jury acknowledged his scientific achievements in various areas as well as his involvement in academic duties and teaching.
