General Information
The EU aims to transform 150 European regions into sustainable and climate resilient regions by 2030. VALORADA will contribute to address this challenge by fostering the use of climate information through the co-development of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) and customizable data-manipulation tools. These tools will enable to combine climate datasets with locally-sourced socioeconomic, demographic and Earth-Observation data for assessing climate risks. VALORADA's tools will facilitate the interoperability of climate and non-climate data, harmonizing geographical and time references across various datasets. This will enable the assessment of climate risks and the calculation of corresponding indicators.
Through a rigorous transdisciplinary approach, climate risks will be analyzed in five European regions together with the local actors. The data needed for these analyses will be gathered from existing repositories, such as the Climate Data Store, as well as locally sourced data. VALORADA will identify the most promising datasets for analyzing local climate risks and propose standards for managing these datasets. The climate data and non-climate data manipulation tools prototyped in VALORADA will, in turn, enhance existing data portals and platforms, providing support and enabling user-oriented integration of multiple data sources.
VALORADA aims to reach Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7 and above.
VALORADA will contribute to scaling up to 150 regions through the implementation of dedicated scalability and replicability activities with at least 10 European regions, and through strong collaboration with other Horizon projects. Additional activities include capacity-building schemes for end users as well as providers of climate services. VALORADA will explore and assess the options to facilitate the connection of the VALORADA data tools to the Copernicus Atmosphere Data Store.

Hereon is the coordinator of the VALORADA project. The main contributions to VALORADA include leading tasks on
• The identification of pivotal impacts of climate change on key community systems for each demonstrator;
• Supporting the generation of a Gap-analysis of existing European relevant information services;
• The development pf a climate-data valorisation framework
• Supporting the generation of Data-management protocols and catalogue development
• Testing the applicability of new data tools
• Assess the impact of data-manipulation tools
• Support capacity building and dissemination activities
