The Coastal and Climate Office for Northern Germany at the Institute for Coastal Systems - Analysis and Modelling is looking for a Data scientist (m/f/d) for geoscientific data analysis and webtool development.

The position is embedded in the BMBF project WAKOS – Water on the Coasts of East Frisia, in which tailor-made climate services are being developed. In this context, the North German Coastal and Climate Office is developing suitable Internet formats. Your task will include the development of a digital regionally specific climate adaptation web tool and other interactive web applications. These formats are intended to provide users from other disciplines with easy access to up-to-date coastal climate information. This requires extensive scientific data analyses with regard to socially relevant issues. In addition, large amounts of data from different disciplinary contexts must be brought together and a meaningful and needs-based link must be made possible. The web applications are to be integrated together with other service products of the project partners on a coastal climate information platform.

Equal opportunity is an important part of our personnel policy. We would therefore strongly encourage qualified women to apply for the position.
In principle, the full time position (39 h/week) is also sharable.

Your tasks

The tasks of this position are to develop new web-based information products, including a coastal climate adaptation web tool and a coastal climate information platform as a digital infrastructure for service products. All tasks aim to enable easy access to stakeholder relevant information.
