Research Funding Office
The research conducted at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon has an international focus. For this reason, we assign great importance to participating in European research projects. Key elements of our strategy are therefore to capitalise on research opportunities available within the Framework Programmes of the European Union, to initiate appropriate research projects and to become involved in international research consortia. This will enable the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon to make a substantial contribution, in line with its own strategic research goals, toward strengthening and expanding the scope and quality of European research.
The main responsibility of the Research Funding Office is to assist the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon institutes with their applications for European research funding, thereby relieving the individuals concerned of as many non-scientific tasks as possible, and to improve the chances of securing European funding by using the wealth of knowledge centrally collected in the Staff Office and the contacts to European Commission personnel.
The Research Funding Office is also home to the secretariat for the international Baltic Earth programme, which aims to improve our understanding of the climate system in the Baltic Sea region.
