General Information |
The Project aims to develop and validate REACH compliant conversion coatings for Al and Steel based on the Zirconia- and Titania-based conversion coatings, totally Cr-free and supplemented with corrosion inhibitors. The development will increase the robustness of current alternatives to Cr(VI)/Cr(III) and Phosphate surface treatments by means of a holistic approach where the two critical aspects (active corrosion protection and thickness control) that lead to a lack of robustness in corrosion protection and paint adhesion are addressed.
The consortium will deliver formulation and additives (partners HEREON & DOK), the application methodology (partner FINITEC) and equipment for layer detection and thickness measurement under 2 microns (SENSOFAR).
The Hereon team consists of Mr. Bahram Vaghefinazari, Prof. Mikhail Zheludkevich and Dr. Sviatlana Lamaka
COMETA is funded in the frame of EUROSTARS, the European Union Partnership on innovative Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs). It is a joint programme between more than 30 EUREKA member countries and the European Union.
