General Information
The problems arising from the growth in road traffic, especially passenger car traffic, are looming ever larger in our daily lives and are impairing the quality of life for everyone. The citizens of Europe may legitimately demand clean, energy-efficient, safe, intelligent vehicles. At the same time, meeting these demands at representative prices represents an enormous technological challenge for European industry, and is also an essential prerequisite for maintaining, or even bolstering, its competitiveness in the future. The project contributes to:
- the preservation of natural resources (aluminium, steel) and the energy for the making;
- the preservation of fuel (hydrocarbons) and reduction of emissions (CO2, CO, CxHy, VOC, NOx) because of leightweight structures and improved fuel efficiencies;
- The enhancement of employment in the involved industries: car and truck manufacturers, aircraft production, aerospace industries, railway rolling stock industry and the two wheeler industry;
- the improvement of the quality of life by improvement of the performance of the vehicle in terms of lightweight and environmental impact.
