My research focuses on the impacts of climate change on ocean and coastal systems, particularly in the North and Baltic Seas, as well as the North Atlantic region. By examining various physical and ecosystem parameters, I investigate how climate-driven changes in the ocean influence marine ecosystems. This includes the development and application of numerical models to simulate hydrodynamic processes, along with the analysis of observational data, such as CTD, ADCP, and LADCP measurements, to assess the impacts of climate change on these ecosystems.
Meteor expedition 2020
This video highlights a four-week RV Meteor expedition (Sept–Oct 2020) in the North Atlantic, where I served as chief scientist as part of a team of 13 researchers from the University of Hamburg's Institute of Oceanography. We investigated deep-water exchange linked to the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). The documentary offers insights into climate research and life aboard a research vessel. cruise documentary link
