General Information |
The project is aiming at connecting the existing knowledge of the MC fellow in cell biology and particularly in characterising keratinocyte-surface interactions with the expertise in polymer synthesis, membrane development for biohybrid organs and biocompatibility studies at the host institute at GKSS. The objective of the project is to develop a stratified skin equivalent which is based on the combination of specific membranes seeded with keratinocytes and fibroblasts which can be peeled off at the end of culture period or upon the application. A cross fertilisation between the MC fellow as specialist in cell biology and GKSS, specialist in membrane development, will be achieved resulting in a biohybrid skin equivalent which can then be tested for the treatment of deep skin burns and chronic skin ulcers.
