Metal powder production using the EIGA or PIGA process

Production of spherical metal powders based on titanium or titanium aluminide

Spherical metal powders are required as a starting material in many powder-based manufacturing processes such as additive manufacturing processes (LBPBF, EBPBF or FGF) and metal powder injection moulding. The HEREON has an industrial atomization system that enables atomization using both the Electrode Induction Melting Gas Atomization (EIGA) and the Plasma Inert Gas Atomization (PIGA) processes.

Plasma melting

Spherical metal powders are required as a starting material in many powder-based manufacturing processes such as additive manufacturing processes (LBPBF, EBPBF or FGF) and metal powder injection moulding. The HEREON has an industrial atomization system that enables atomization using both the Electrode Induction Melting Gas Atomization (EIGA) and the Plasma Inert Gas Atomization (PIGA) processes. Depending on the quality of the input materials, optimized process control and professional powder handling make it possible to produce spherical metal powders with very low levels of impurities, particularly oxygen and nitrogen. Characterization of the oxygen, nitrogen and carbon content as well as sieve chains can be ordered separately.
