CAU Innovation GmbH, founded in 2022, simplifies the handling of cooperation projects with companies and other contract research and service projects by providing agile and flexible support for project initiation and handling and offering customized solutions geared towards knowledge transfer.
We offer the following position, limited to three years, at the next possible date, the regular weekly working time is up to 38,7 hours and the payment is based on TV-L 13, if all requirements are fulfilled:

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team at Hereon in Geesthacht and the CAU and UKSH in Kiel. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) and bridging data management from the lab with clinical data management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage ELN systems within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Bridge data management processes between laboratory and clinical environments.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and integration services.
  • Model data in both relational (SQL) and graph databases (RDF).
  • Integrate APIs and manage data services.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure data integrity.
  • Document processes and workflows effectively.

Requirements:

  • A diploma or master’s degree in computer science, engineering computer science, informatics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Elm.
  • Strong skills in data query languages like SQL and SPARQL.
  • Experience with data modeling in relational and graph databases.
  • Ability to integrate APIs, set up services, and manage data pipelines.
  • Willingness to learn scientific fundamentals and gather information from relevant stakeholders.
  • Excellent teamwork and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in English (B2-C2) and German (B1-C2).

Advantageous:

  • Knowledge of semantic web technologies.
  • Experience in the development and application of ontologies (RDFS, OWL).
  • Familiarity with the Shapes Constraint Language (SHACL).
  • Experience with integrating anonymized data and handling privacy constraints.
