Mein primäres Forschungsinteresse liegt in der Verbesserung von Vorhersagen im Zusammenhang mit dem globalen Kohlenstoffkreislauf durch die Aufdeckung der zugrunde liegenden Mechanismen, die Variabilität und Vorhersagbarkeit innerhalb des Erdsystems beinhalten.

Ich arbeite an der Verbesserung kurzfristiger Vorhersagen des globalen Kohlenstoffkreislaufs und von Klimaveränderungen, indem ich Erdsystemmodelle mit Beobachtungen initialisiere und das Verständnis und die Darstellung von Kohlenstoff-Klima-Rückkopplungen durch große Ensemblesimulationen und hochauflösende Modellierung verbessere.

Darüber hinaus verfolge ich die Integration von Modellsimulationen und Beobachtungsdaten mit statistischen und maschinellen Lernmethoden, um unser Verständnis zu vertiefen und die Unsicherheiten von Vorhersagen und Projektionen zukünftiger Trends im Kohlenstoffkreislauf, in der Klimadynamik und bei Extremereignissen weiter einzuschränken.
