Multifunctional Interfaces

In order to utilize solar energy more efficiently into our future energy supply, highly efficient surfaces are required for light absorption and energy conversion. The “Multifunctional Interfaces” department works on the design and manufacture of such high-precision surfaces. Our focus lies on understanding and optimizing nanostructured layers for use in photoelectrodes for hydrogen generation and carbon dioxide reduction, as well as for applications in X-ray optics and thermophotovoltaics.
